Xiao Liu in a hard hat and safety vest at a construction site
Xiao on a construction site visit.

Xiao trained as a mechanical engineer and still thinks like one: figure out how something works, find what’s slowing it down, then fix it. He brings that habit to everything he explores, whether that’s a construction site, an unfamiliar city, or an idea everyone is talking about.

What he learns doesn’t stay a curiosity. He looks for the gaps, the places where something could work better, and puts his knowledge and skills to work closing them. Travel feeds that more than anything: every new place shows him another way people have solved the same problem.

What he sees along the way ends up in what he makes: small tools that remove a step, and writing and talks that share what works.
